Dr. Christine Dahl is a retired dentist who formerly practiced in Bettendorf, Iowa. For many years, she has had a dream of becoming a children’s book author and artist. The story of Krissie Comes Home is based on insights from her many experiences over the years.
Dr. Dahl found her inspiration for this multicultural children’s ecology book through her third-grade teacher, Dr. Robyne Williams, who taught her the value of interdependence. While she was in the fourth grade, a thoughtful librarian introduced her to the world globe and atlas. As a child, she had an active imagination, and longed to visit the beautiful areas shown in the atlas. She wanted to join in the dancing, singing, and enjoying the local food, music, and customs.
This book celebrates the samadhi experience of astronaut and moon-walker Dr. Edgar Mitchell, who viewed the Earth from his Apollo XIV spacecraft, described in 2:26 minute YouTube video, “We Are One.” - https://youtu.be/R1Kzs9wGlYI?si=YB8b2lG-rbQ0cZ71 Following his Apollo mission, Dr Mitchell founded IONS, the Institute of Noetic Sciences. www.noetic.org
In the library, Krissie leaps into the atlas, and in her “mind’s eye” she explores the world and the interconnections between people, plants, and animals on our beautiful blue planet. This childrens travel picture book celebrates cultural diversity. In being kind to the Earth and its inhabitants, Krissie gains environmental awareness and appreciation for our entire ecosystem. Her explorations lead her to the delightful discovery of the one-ness of our Earth.
As a curious traveler, Dr Dahl has discovered insights and friendships through exploring the beauty of our planet and the mysteries of consciousness. She is grateful to the mentors who have served as guides along her journeys.
